Love Does Not End With Death

Every one of us has had to deal with the death and/or dying of someone we love.  During the holiday season, it’s especially tough.

Dr. Alan Wolfelt wrote an article about how love doesn’t end with death, and how, during the holiday season especially, it’s important to reflect upon those words.  He says that the holidays, of course, are very difficult for those who have experienced the death of someone they love.  For them, what once was times of family togetherness and sharing, the holidays bring feelings of sadness, loss and emptiness, which result in a renewed sense of personal grief.  It’s so difficult when family members and/or friends encourage you to join in the holiday spirit when every single sound, sight and smell triggers memories of the person you love who is now gone.  There is no simple solution that will take away the pain felt; however, by being tolerant and compassionate with yourself, healing will continue to occur.
